It can be easy to fall into a bit of a rut sometimes – especially when you’re doing the same thing day after day, week after week. Sometimes this can leave you feeling negative, unmotivated and bored. It’s important to not let your daily monotonous routine take a toll on your level of happiness, positivity and fulfillment. To keep flexing your happiness muscle there are a few easy things you can do to boost your mood instantly. Check them out in this weeks video!
3 ways to be happier starting today!
Make sure you do at least one thing a day that brings you joy
It can be as big or as small as you wish! Just something that makes you feel more relaxed, brings you inner satisfaction or something that makes you really excited! Maybe it’s that first cup of coffee in the morning, a yoga class, reading a book, or spending time outside. What’s that one thing that’s going to make you feel good. When you start making note of it and are aware of the things that bring you joy and happiness, you can spend more time focusing on those moments and how good they make you feel. Those small feel good moments add up!
Be aware of your assumptions
This one is HUGE! We naturally make up stories all day long without even realizing it. The crazy thing is, we’re allowing these assumptions to shift our mood. The even crazier thing is they haven’t even actually happened and probably won’t happen. So why are we acting like they have? Assumptions aren’t going to go away entirely but the key is to be aware of them and notice when you do it. Once you can become more aware of your assumptions you can start letting them go. By doing so, your level of happiness will increase because you won’t be so dragged down by the more negative thoughts assumptions can breed.
Keep a gratitude journal
This is something I really encourage my clients to do EVERY DAY! It doesn’t matter how crappy of a day you have, when you can sit, reflect and make note of all the things you’re grateful for, it automatically shifts your mood. It helps to change your perspective and you begin to realize the other things that were getting you down aren’t even that important. Eventually, overtime, if you do this exercise daily you will start to notice that your mind tends to shift right away to the more positive things in your day.
